Math:
After you have completed the pretest assessment, I’ll be able to assign you an appropriate assignment for Friday. Please give me a day after you’ve done the pre-test so I can go in and find activities that are appropriate based on your results. You will go into Freckle (through Clever) to find your Friday Math assignment(s). Science:

Reading (~1 hour):
You will go into Freckle (through Clever) to find your Thursday Reading assignment(s). You should find 3 activities that have been assigned to you. You should be spending at least an hour doing the Reading assignments. This might mean you complete one assignment, or perhaps all three. Please know that I can see how long you work on these assignments. So I WILL know if you log in and only spend 20 minutes on your Reading assignments. If you spend an hour and don’t complete all of them, or even all of one, that is fine. But you need to put in the proper time and effort. Social Studies (~1 hour): Again, follow the directions to log in to Clever. Once you are logged in, click on the red STUDIES WEEKLY icon. This will take you to a choice of Studies Weekly magazines (it should just have two, your 5th grade Social Studies and a 5th grade Science). Click on the Georgia Studies Weekly: Industrialization to the Digital Age (purple) paper. Please read the article titled “Television and Space Exploration”. Answer the 3 multiple-choice questions listed below. Then click on BONUS SOURCES in the upper right corner. Watch the following videos (1-2 minutes each), and answer the multiple-choice questions after each video:
Answer the following question (taken partially from the Studies weekly quiz), in Office 365 or email me the answer (typed or a picture of handwritten): Television drastically changed how people got information and learned of the news in the world around them. Where do people currently get their news and information? What are some of the positives and negatives of our increased technological sources? Answer in complete sentences. Be sure to answer BOTH questions and provide at least one positive and at least one negative. Writing:
In Office 365 or on paper, you are to begin a journal. You will add an entry each week (or more often if you’d like). This is a place to record your daily activities, thoughts and feelings. You may record small moments, funny thoughts, worries, what makes you happy or what frustrates you. Some days you may just write a paragraph, but other days your thoughts may spill out into pages. You may want to include pictures or drawings. You are living through a possibly epic time in history. Your stories and thoughts are very important! If you do this through Office 365, you will login to your account and then share the document with your teacher when you are finished writing EACH day. Be sure to give your journal a name that fits what you are writing about. Look below for how an example entry might look. If you choose NOT to do a journal entry, you need to do a reading response for writing. You can either respond to something you are reading on your own or if your teacher is doing a read aloud with you, you can respond to that book. Be sure to pay attention, as you normally would, to your spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization. Even if you are writing a journal entry, your grammar and sentence structure need to be correct. I can’t wait to see what you write! Math:
Follow the directions below to log in to Clever. Once you have logged in, click on the PIG icon for Freckle. You should now see 1 assignment listed (because you completed the ELA assignment yesterday): #64 – Multiple Domains Assessment. This is a pre-assessment. It must all be done at one time; you cannot stop in the middle and come back to it. So be sure you can sit down and work on it for anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes. Like the MI, this test will adjust to your level. I expect to see your scores reflect that you have done your best, just as you all did on the last MI test you took! Once I see that you have completed this, then I can use the results to choose an appropriate activity for your Friday Math activity. Reading:
Follow the directions below to log in to Clever. Once you have logged in, click on the PIG icon for Freckle. You should see 2 assignments listed. Complete the ELA assignment: 84 Assessment C. This is a pre-assessment. It must all be done at one time; you cannot stop in the middle and come back to it. So be sure you can sit down and work on it for anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes. Like the RI, this test will adjust to your level. I expect to see your scores reflect that you have done your best, just as you all did on the last RI test you took! Once I see that you have completed this, then I can use the results to choose an appropriate activity for your Thursday Reading activity. This first Digital Learning post is going to be about how to log in to the sites you will need for digital learning. I am putting in a picture to show you how to log into Clever, which is how you will get into Freckle for Reading and Math, as well as how you will get into Social Studies weekly, and even into Brainpop. Clever is a "clever" way to get you into a lot of programs! Also I will attach a video Ms. Harris made to show you how to log in to Clever and Office 365.
