Math: Wednesday’s Zoom chat will introduce our Math assignment for today. Once it’s been explained on Zoom, I will send out further directions 😊. Today you will continue what we began in our Zoom chat, discussing “Toilet Paper” math. It’s quite a relevant subject these days! In our chat, we figured out how toilet paper packs are labeled and what they REALLY mean! Now you are going to use that information and more information I will provide to do a little math using toilet paper. I will attach the worksheet if you want to print it, complete it by hand, and scan/take a picture to send it back. OR You can look at the image below of the worksheet and work off of it, sending me just the answers in a document or a piece of paper. The questions have multiple parts, so be sure to answer all of them! Have fun! They are both due by Saturday night, but you can send each one whenever it is complete. Monday’s Zoom Chat will be moved to 11am!!!! (just this one day) Log in to join us and learn about your Social Studies project for this week! Social Studies/Writing:
You will be completing a social studies project this week about the Civil Rights Movement. I will only “assign” it once, today. But you have all week to work on it and it will be due by Saturday at midnight. Feel free to turn it in whenever you complete it. To do this project you can use any of the 5 resources I will list below, but you must use a minimum of 2 of them. You will have to do some research: read articles/books and watch videos. You will need to reference which sites and articles you read or videos you watched. I will provide you with 4 choices for how you can present what you have learned. You can choose which one you prefer and only need to complete one. Writing: This week, we read two articles about the effects of being out of school and social distancing. Last week, we did a multi-part project on the implications of this “pandemic”. For your journal this week, write a letter to yourself in 20 years. Remind your future self about what you have been going through and why. Tell your future self what you are finding difficult in this time. What are you struggling with? What is hard? But also tell your future self positive things that are happening, things you will remember for the good when all this is over. What do you think you will look back on fondly? Please keep in mind that this is a writing assignment in 5th grade. I should not be receiving 3-5 sentence responses. You should be writing 3-5 paragraphs, with about 5 sentences each. Make sure you REREAD what you write before you send it. Check your spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Think to yourself, “Would I turn this into Ms. Bohm if I was at school?” If the answer is NO…then fix it! We are not in school, but school is not over…and your grades are not finished either. Do your best and make your work something you are proud of! Science: We are going to use our new program today to explore Science, Moby Max. Go to www.mobymax.com/ga957. Choose to sign in “As a student”. Your username is your first name (the one we call you in class) followed by your number in our class (#1-26). Your password is your last name followed by your number in our class (#1-26). If you need me to clarify your username or password, feel free to message me. Once you get to your main screen, choose Science and your assignment will be listed. Continue where you left off Tuesday. You should spent at least an hour on Science today. Math: Log into Freckle and do you last Math assignment of the week: In our Zoom chat today at 10:00am, we will continue the discussion started yesterday and your Math project for today will be explained. Be sure to log into the chat to learn about the project and join our class discussion. Math: Based on our discussions over the past 2 days, you are tasked with the project of figuring out how to fit 26 students and 1 teacher into our 5th grade classroom and still allow for social distancing of 6 feet between people. You will open up the file “Classroom Drawings and Circle”, which should open into Excel in Office 365. If it does not, try opening Office 365 first, then opening the file. You should be able to manipulate the circles around on the spreadsheet to “fit” the people in your classroom. Do NOT change the size of the circles. If you are not able to do this on the computer, do it by hand and send me your drawings. The link to the file is below. Be sure to IMMEDIATELY SAVE AS for your document so you can give it YOUR NAME, otherwise everyone who opens it after you will see your answers and not the starting document! SHARE the final document with me AFTER you are finished.

This is a great program which has LOTS of books to read. We will use it for some assignments, but you are free to log on whenever to read from their vast library of books! Once in EPIC look for this book assigned to you: The Civil Rights Movement by Max Winter. You might have other older assignments, but THIS is your assignment for today. Read Chapters 1-4 (pages 4-35). As you finish each chapter, make a “Stop and Jot” note. Since you are reading 4 chapters, you should have 4 “Stop and Jot” notes total. Send me these “Stop and Jots” either by typing them up and sending them or writing them by hand and sending me a picture. There are two parts to the Stop and Jots:
