WARNING...long message, but worth the read to the end! Good afternoon, It's been so great to see all of the kids when they are able to log in and join us on Zoom. I know some of you have had issues with not being able to get in. I don't really have solutions, just suggestions.
Today was the last day of the 2 week packet we sent home. By this evening, your child should be finished with all of the activities in the packet. Many of you have been AMAZING about checking in daily to tell me that you've finished the day's activities. Some have been sporadic and I've heard from you on and off. There's a few that I have barely heard from or not at all. Tonight or this weekend, please send me a summary message to let me know that your child HAS completed the entire packet. Or, be honest, it's not finished yet but it will be completed by the time we return to school. I WILL collect these packets so I'd like to have everyone turn in their's completed. "School" changes slightly starting next week. On Sunday, I will send you out a weekly schedule of what you will be doing each week. This will be a condensed version to let you plan out your week. The expectation is that each day will be about 2 hours worth of work. That is an averaged time. So some days it might take an hour and 15 minutes, while others may take 2 and half. And it might take a different amount of time for different people. Thanks to ALL of you who filled out the technology survey, I am able to plan accordingly knowing that some of your households are sharing 1 or 2 devices among 4-5 people. This weekly schedule will hopefully allow you to look at what your child needs to do for the week, along with what their siblings need to do, and maybe find a way to share out the devices as needed. ALL assignments for the week will be due by the following Saturday night (so the assignments for next week will be due by midnight on Saturday, April 4th. You and your child can choose to do them as laid out in the weekly schedule or knock them all out in one long day of learning and working. This is going to be up to you and your family, especially those who are sharing devices and might find the clumped version easier. For those of you who listed that you have had difficulty getting work completed due to lack of technology, we can have a packet printed out and available for pickup each Monday morning at Acworth during the MUST ministries distribution from 11am-1pm. But I need to know IN ADVANCE who would need these. FYI: The packet WILL NOT be the same work as the students will be doing during virtual learning. The virtual learning will be tailored to their needs, their levels, and what is best for each of them to be working on. The virtual learning will also be more of what our class is ready to work on in social studies and science. Whereas the packet is a generic 5th grade packet and will mostly be review activities, nothing new and nothing personalized. If at all possible, it would be best for all students to do the online work, as it will be much closer to what we would be able to do in school. Again, I understand if you child does not have the technological access to complete the online learning. I just need to know ASAP so I can have a packet printed for them. As I said, the packets can ONLY be picked up Monday mornings from 11am-1pm at Acworth. If none of these options work for you, then please message me so I can try to figure out a Plan C option for your family. To recap:
